What Your Body Is Telling You This Spring (An Ayurvedic Perspective)
You may have heard of Ayurveda, but not fully know what it is.
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that views the body through the lens of the five elements — earth, water, fire, air, and space — and how these elements express themselves within us.
Rather than separating the body from nature, Ayurveda recognizes that we move with it. As the seasons shift, so do the qualities within our own physiology.
Spring is governed by Kapha dosha, which is made up of earth and water.
These qualities are naturally heavy, slow, cool, and moist — and they tend to accumulate during the winter months when our routines, foods, and environment mirror those same qualities.
As the weather begins to warm, that accumulation starts to soften, liquefy, and move through the body.
This transition is often felt.
You may be noticing this as:
- Slower or heavier digestion, or a sense that digestion feels inconsistent
- Increased mucus or congestion, or a feeling of something “stuck” in the body
- Low energy or heaviness, or the opposite — feeling a bit restless or ungrounded
- Brain fog, or simply not feeling as clear or focused as usual
From an Ayurvedic perspective, this is not the body working against you — it is the body working for you, attempting to clear what has been building beneath the surface.
Kapha is closely connected to the stomach, lungs, and lymphatic pathways, which is why this season often influences digestion, respiratory health, and the movement of fluids throughout the body.
What’s important to understand is that these patterns don’t appear overnight.
What you’re experiencing now is often a reflection of how the body has been supported through the previous season.
The body is always communicating in this way — through sensation, energy, and subtle shifts long before something becomes more pronounced.
In Ayurveda, we learn to recognize these patterns early, working with the body to support its natural clearing and rebalancing processes.
Spring, then, is not just a change in season — it’s a window into how your body is adapting, clearing, and asking for support.
Are you noticing what it’s trying to tell you?
🌿 A gentle next step
If you’re curious what your body is communicating this season, this is exactly what we explore during an Ayurvedic consultation and pulse assessment — understanding your unique patterns and how to support them in a way that works for you.
